A monster night of reggaematical mightiness honouring Dubhead and Stinky Jim

BFM stalwarts Dubhead and Stinky Jim have been actively pushing fresh sounds and stonking riddims on the unsuspecting public for quarter of a century and they deserve to be celebrated for this splendid achievement. So get along and show them some love!  Much respect....

25 years of The Rhythm Selection and Stinky Grooves

"95bFM and Allsusd are preposterously proud to present a celebration of 25 years of continuous broadcasting for 95bFM’s The Rhythm Selection and Stinky Grooves.

Sterling Sounds at Neck Of The Woods on Saturday September 26th

Running the midweek airwaves since 1990, Dubhead and Stinky Jim have carved out their own DJ signatures built on a bedrock reggae foundation, with a discerning eye in other directions when prudent and necessary.

They will be bringing that full weight of experience to bear in extended sets, featuring long time MCs Tuffy Culture and the Mighty Asterix. Completing the lineup are three of the stand up individuals who have taken the reins of these top-ranking radio shows when Dub and Jim have been impossibly otherwise engaged in elsewhere business: Oblex B, Geezer Guy and compere for the evening MC Slaves LOGGcabin as well as organising supremo DJ Mooch.

Kicking off at 7, with sly sounds and jerk chicken on the BBQ, this promises to be a monster night of reggaematical mightiness and musical majesty, in the old school style.

Selectors and hosts, Dubhead and Stinky Jim have been giving listeners the silver service since the start of the 90s, a time when an antidote to hackysack and half baked grunge bands was more necessary than ever. On a weekly basis they have delivered an unrelenting bounty of musical treasures, both new and old, sourced and administered with the passion of zealots.

Fiercely loyal to 95bFM, and most importantly the listeners, this pair of musically obsessed, low end loving UK ex-pats have delighted several generations of tuned in types as well as helping to inspire and introduce a whole range of up and comers, down and outers, DJs, music makers and their ilk.

As producers (Dub with Sound Foundation, Jim with Unitone HiFi) compilers and curators (the Dub Combinations and Sideways series respectively) writers, selectors and passionate enthusiasts in a variety of other guises, they have both left a musical footprint that is far larger than just their long running radio shows.

However it’s after 9pm on Monday and Tuesday nights, when the energy is right and the vibes are running, that you will hear the purest distillation of what makes these two gentlemen tick.

Bringing the beat bullion and rhythmic remedy on 95bFM for a quarter of a century, Dubhead and Stinky Jim have assembled a formidable line up for this crucial celebration. Joined by the Mighty Asterix, flying in especially from Australia, and a very rare outing for Tuffy Culture, they will be spinning the new, old, rare and some classics from their 25 year tenure, alongside solid support from Oblex B, Geezer Guy, Mooch and MC Slaves LOGGcabin. All this for only a piffling ten dollars on the gate - Sterling Sounds promises to be a night to remember.
