Directed by two-time Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple, Miss Sharon Jones will focus on the modern soul legend’s perseverance through pancreatic cancer, cancelled tour dates, album delays and medical treatment.
Jones was diagnosed with cancer in June 2013, a setback she ultimately overcame as she returned to live touring in November of that year. Soon after, her sixth LP Give The People What They Want was released to wide critical acclaim.
The new film was officially announced Monday in a posting by a just-established official Facebook page.
