Last night Miss Sharon Jones and her Dapkings played in Auckland for the first time at the Powerstation and tore the roof off that sucker. A night of electrifying, satisfying soul and fantastic funk. My favourites included them playing their Chirstmas single Aint no chimneys in the projects, and one of the gospel tunes they've done on their last few albums - Mamma don't like my man, with just Miss Jones, her two female backing singers, and Binky Griptite on guitar.
